Today, 12th December 2013 is the 23rd Birthday of the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj. Tengku Amir was born on 12th December 1990 at Pacific Presbyterian Hospital, San Francisco, California. He is the son of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and his American-born mother, Cik Puan Nur Lisa Idris Abdullah.
As the first son of the Sultan of Selangor, he was proclaimed as the Raja Muda of Selangor on 3rd May 2002 and it was gazetted on 9th May 2002.
He received his early education at Alice Smith School, Kuala Lumpur. He attended Wellington College in England from 2004 and graduated in 2009.He pursued his tertiary education at University of Leeds in Ecology and Environmental Biology. He was graduated from University of Leeds in 2014. Tengku Amir is currently joining military trainings at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
